The demand for Dodge muscle cars continues to strengthen as internet buyers showed a preference toward Mopar muscle cars for the third month in a row. Once again the Dodge Charger took the No. 1 spot on our “Top Ten Most Popular” list for muscle cars, claiming 18.5 percent of internet searches in April (See our Mopar Section). Each month the Cars On Line staff analyzes statistics from Google and Bing search engines in order to understand online consumer trends. This past month internet buyers continued their hunt for Mopars. Dodge Challengers held steady at the No. 2 spot on our Top Ten list, while Pontiac GTOs slipped down one spot to round out the top five. You’ll notice that Pontiac Firebirds are now in 10th place on the list. This was the first time in as many months that Firebirds made an appearance within the Top Ten. See more below.
It was no surprise to see classic Fords dominate our Top Ten Most Popular classic car list again this past month (See our Ford Section). According to Google and Bing statistics, 18.2 percent of internet buyers in search of classic cars were in pursuit of something built by the Ford Motor Co. For the second month in a row, it appeared as if the Ford Model A was the most often searched classic Ford vehicle on the internet. Ford Model A’s were so popular that they made up 5.8 percent of internet searches for classic vehicles. There was a slight change in the rankings as Chevrolet claimed the No. 2 spot on the list, while Packard dropped to No. 8, down five spots from the previous month. Making a comeback was International, which found itself back in the top five after dropping to 8th place last month.
