1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator

1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator

While Ford muscle car fans are proud of their Mach 1 Mustangs from the muscle car era, the 1969 and 1970 Mercury Cougars also had some incredible performance versions. The one that strikes fear in the hearts of the uninitiated is the 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator … the best of the best.

Mercury featured the Eliminator package for only two years, 1969 and 1970, and produced only 2,250 in 1969. Of those, only 260 were produced with the “S” code 390 GT engine like the one found in this true numbers matching example. The Competition orange 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator is offered by a collector from Jasper, Indiana. He says it is the first time he has offered it for sale nationally.

To make it even rarer, Mercury discontined the 390 GT as an option for the 1970 models. The seller says this car has been fully restored, and recently too, with the completion date falling in the summer of 2012. Apart from that, you’ll find more great features on this one, like vacuum-operated hidden headlights and sequential turn signals. The seller states he has original documentation to back this Cougar up, including the original Ford invoice, deluxe Marti Report and a personalized statistics sheet.

This car has been SOLD.
