Introduced in March 1959 at the New York Auto Show, the Daimler Dart would quickly be named the Daimler Sport (SP) 250. With the design based around almost every other roadster of the time Daimler attempted to take the best of everything out there. The most unique part of the SP-250 was the motor, a 2.5L Hemi head style power plant; developing 140 horsepower, making them capable of a top speed of 120 miles-per=hour, and potent enough to be used by British Police Officers for pursuit duty. Daimler was purchased by Jaguar in 1961, resulting in two model names, Spec B and Spec C with some significant chassis strength upgrades, until the low volume model was discontinued in 1964 with only 2,645 being built over the 6 year production run.
Featuring a matching tan top and tonneau cover, this 1961 Daimler SP250 RoadsterĀ is powered by the famous 2.5 litre hemi V8 engine which has also been freshly restored to stock specifications, it runs and drives as beautifully as it shows. This very unique Daimler is now it is ready for the next chapter in owner history, to be enjoyed and driven on sunny summer afternoons, turning heads and raising interest everywhere it’s seen.
