Every day comes closer to one of the most anticipated premier auctions in the country, the RKM Collector Car Auction in Charlotte, North Carolina. Newsletter readers will recognize RKM as the sister company to RK Motors Charlotte, one of the classic car dealers in our Cars On Line Dealer Network. They’ve pulled out all the stops to make their first big auction in the Southeastern United States an event to remember. It will be held October 31st throught November 3, 2013 at the Charlotte Convention Center.

One of the top draws at the auction will be this Tor Red 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird, a fully documented, professionally restored Plymouth Road Runner Superbird Hemi that’s covered in correct Tor-Red two-stage paint, and comes with the original 426 ci Hemi engine and A727 Torqueflight automatic transmission. Click the link to see dozens of high resolution photos and an extensive history.

They tell us it is a highly optioned New York muscle car, featuring an exceptionally straight, all original body that was perfected over a multi-year, frame-off restoration commissioned by the noted Wellborn Muscle Car Museum. The numbers matching powertrain is said to be original along with original sheet metal. Even back in the day that big wing allowed speeds in excess of 200 miles per hour.

Not everyone can own one of these legendary muscle cars. But for someone who does, it draws everyone’s attention.

This car has been SOLD.
