A new trend is developing at the major collector car auctions. Very authentic Eleanor Mustang reproductions are beginning to get more price traction, predicated on the highly publicized sales of the actual movie cars this year. When the 1967 Eleanor Mustang used for the beauty shots during the Gone In 60 Seconds movie sold for a cool $1 million at the Mecum Auction in Indianapolis last spring it was a shot heard round the world.
Now some of the very authentic Eleanor reproductions, such as the one shown here, are also getting a lot of respect at collector car auctions around the country. There is a difference between a high end Eleanor reproduction and a a backyard build. The value is in the authenticity. It is important to get a car that was produced from a licensed reproduction kit.
Today we are welcoming a brand new advertiser, Lonestar Classic Motors from Richmond, Texas. The 1967 Eleanor Mustang Fastback you see here is being built by Lonestar using an Eleanor kit licensed by Shelby American. It includes the whole front valance and wraparound kit with rear valance pieces, and even the special GT500 fog lamps by Shelby American. They tell us they will be using a 2013 GT500 5.0 motor which is fuel injected and supercharged by SVO. Transmission will probably be a 6-speed by SVO. This car is in the build process right now. They will be updating the webpage with new pictures as the project evolves. Two more ’67 actual Fastback bodies are on hand to cold build according to the customer specification. They have a 4.6 Roush and 5.0 Roush on hand also.
This car has been SOLD.
Lonestar Classic Motors not only builds Eleanor reproductions, but they also feature classic muscle cars for sale from their Richmond facility. “We are into classic Mustang convertibles and fastbacks,” says Josh Meeh of Lonestar Classic Motors. “But we also love doing classic street rods and Willys coupes. We’re seeing a lot of demand in the resto mod market. We’re set up to build the custom and pro touring cars that are most popular today.” Look for many of their outstanding deals in the featured New Listings link in the Cars On Line newsletter.
