For the 40th Anniversary of the Shelby Mustang Carroll Shelby decided that a special edition GT350 should be built as a tribute to the GT350R race cars that started this whole segment of the collector car market. He contracted with Unique Performance out of Colorado to produce the special edition. But because of problems with Unique Performances business plan only four of these cars were ever produced. This 1965 Shelby GT350SR is No. 4, the last one completed. It is offered for sale today by MS Classic Cars out of Seekonk, Massachusetts.
The car was designated # CSC-4015, the only one that was equipped with Fast Electronic Sequential Fuel Injection. It was built from an original Mustang using its original VIN number. They tell us it has just 700 actual miles! It is interesting to note that Carroll Shelby sold the first car (#1) of this proposed 40-car series at the 2006 Barrett-Jackson Auction for $307,800. At that time they thought there would be 40 cars produced. Little did they know that only four would ever see the street. The limited edition 40th anniversary GT350SR comes in an exclusive Hot Hues Silva with Shelby blue stripes and a distinctive blue interior! Some of the exterior upgrades include a Shelby “R styled” nose, hood and side scoops, 40th Anniversary badges, functional SC Cobra style gas lid, racing side mirrors, side quarter window plexiglas and is wrapped in Foose Designed wheels!
