1949 Mercury Custom Coupe

1949 Mercury Custom Coupe

An Albany, Oregon hot rodder feels that this car could be a “show stopper” if you want to take it to the next level. Although it is true that owners always have a lot of pride in their cars, this one may hold true.  It may be considered somewhat of a “starter car” in its current state, but it’s had a really solid beginning.  It is a 1949 Mercury Custom Coupe built on a 1970 Buick Riviera chassis. The list of custom modifications qualifies it to be considered in the lead sled category, an American icon. The seller says it is chopped, channeled, nosed and decked with frenched headlights and tunneled tail lights. He says it has a 455 Buick engine, automatic transmission, custom upholstery, with 6-way front bench seat. More important, he notes that it runs and drives great – a driver, not a trailer queen. “The car is fun the way it is,” he says, “or with modest investment could be a show stopper.” It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of only $22,500.
