1972 Foose Challenger

1972 Foose Challenger

Rewind to the year 2006 when Chip Foose was into his third year on TLC’s TV show called Overhaulin. One of his most watched episodes was when he built the 1972 Foose Challenger in front of the crowds of automotive buffs at the SEMA show in Las Vegas that year. Overhaulin’ is an American automotive reality TV show that ran for five seasons on TLC between 2004–2008.

This car has been SOLD.

Dan Goodman was living with his family in Las Vegas, Nevada. He loved his Mopars and bought a 1972 Dodge Challenger project car back in Florida which he had dreamed of restoring as a father-son project with his youngest son, Mike. Dan sees it Chip Foose and Dan Goodman on the set of Overhaulinas a classic muscle car, but it needed a lot of work and was missing some major parts.

One day Mike tells his dad that he lost the ’72 Challenger in a street race. Actually he had contacted Overhaulin and Chip Foose plans a resto mod restoration on the car. Foose and his A Team restored the ’72 Challenger at the SEMA Convention in Las Vegas before a live audience in Episode 16 of the Overhaulin series. First Foose showed his drawing of the finished ’72 Challenger to the crowds gathered there, and then the A Team got busy rebuilding the resto mod muscle car. Foose’ drawings called for shaved bumpers, shaved door handles, Bowler Racing transmission, Gear Vendors overdrive, Ride Tech Air Ride suspension, one-off Foose wheels, Baer brakes all around and Magna Flow exhaust. The new 392 Hemi 6.4L engine was the first one released by Chrysler in 2006. The way it is set up it puts 525 horsepower to the rear wheels.

Now relocated to Lake Mary, Florida, Goodman has decided to put his 1972 Foose Challenger up for sale. This is a chance to own a beautiful Chip Foose built TV car with an incredible history. It may be one of the most noted cars built during the early years of the TV series. It surely can be recognized as a Foose design by the iconic two-tone resto mod paint scheme. Best of all, the price is affordable.
