1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie Skyliner

It’s a mouthful to say … 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie Skyliner … the only Ford production car that had three model names. Most of you know it as a “retractable” for its retracting hardtop power roof. The ultimate convertible. Too advanced for its time, yet an icon of the “space age” as America looked to a brighter future post World War II. Those were the days! Just Toys Classic Cars out of Orlando, Florida is offering it for sale. They tell us it is “done” and ready to turn the key and enjoy. This car has had one repaint, and has been upgraded to a dependable Ford 390 V8. You might mistake this car for a trailer queen. But you’d be wrong. They tell us it has been on two Hot Rod Power Tours across the country and “has performed flawlessly each time.” They say the chrome and stainless are impressive, and it comes with a Continental kit and fender skirts. Next to a ’57 Chevy Convertible I can’t think of any car more iconic than this Ford Retractable.

This car has been SOLD.

This 1959 Ford Fairlane Galaxie Skyliner was a standout among the Rock N Roll 50s Car listings in the Cars On Line Newsletter this week. Click here to see more Rock N Roll 50s Cars for sale.
