The thoroughbred Pony Cars which were shipped to Shelby American from the Ford factory were 1965 Mustang K Code Fastback base cars. These were to be the famous Shelby Mustang GT350 race cars that would bring Shelby several SCCA championships. These K Code Mustang Fastbacks were to the Shelby legend what the COPO Camaros were to Yenko back in the day. This is where it all began.
Bay City Motorcar Co from Bay City, Michigan has posted a 1965 Mustang K Code Mustang Fastback for sale. They claim that it is a No. 1 condition car in every aspect. With only a few break-in miles since a comprehensive two-year professional restoration they say it is more perfect than any car that came from the factory. It was restored by Tri-City Mustangs from St Charles, Michigan. It is said to be correct down to the smallest detail, and ready to impress.
This 1965 Mustang K Code Fastback is painted in its original and hard to find Caspian Blue paint. Click the link to view a history of the car and over 180 photos, including dozens of photos of the restoration. If you have a good eye for fitment look at the gaps between the sheet metal panels. The chrome is excellent. And the trim and badges are said to be perfect. It even has date-coded glass and you can see it is very nice.
The powerful K-Code 289 engine produces an ample 271 hp, and the 4-speed top-loader manual transmission puts the control right in your hand, while the 3.5:1 rear end keeps you on track. All the components are factory original and fully rebuilt. The optional disc brakes, upgraded suspension and dual exhaust give this pre-GT car all the performance of the full GT package.
This thoroughbred Mustang is ready to be the Triple Crown of your collection.
