Car enthusiasts and auction goers have been marveling at Kurt Tanner’s restorations for over 20 years now. Tanner bought his first British sports car at the age of 12 for $300. It was a 1959 Triumph TR-3A Roadster, and it fueled an interest in European sports cars that would later make him one of the industry’s most celebrated Austin Healey 3000 marque specialists. In 2006, Tanner brought a 1967 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ-8 Sports Convertible finished in Metallic Golden Beige with red trim and chrome wire wheels to the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. It was the first Austin Healey to break the $100,000 barrier.

The 1965 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ8 shown above underwent a complete frame-off restoration by Tanner and sold at the 2008 Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas, Nevada for $84,700. It was powered by an original 2912cc overhead cam 6-cylinder engine that produced 150 horsepower and was listed as demonstrating an unparalleled attention to detail.
The Austin Healey 3000 MKIII BJ-8 Sports Convertible was arguably the fastest, safest, and most comfortable riding model of all Healeys, which is reflected in today’s high demand and impressive market prices. Kurt Tanner Restorations put their skills to work on this one and sold it at the 2009 Scottsdale, Arizona Barrett-Jackson for $101,200. It had California Sage paint, linen colored trim, a 4-speed overdrive gearbox and a 3000cc 6-cylinder engine.
Kurt Tanner Motorcars gave this 1967 Jaguar XKE Series I Convertible a complete cosmetic detailing after purchasing it from an owner that cared for it for over 25 years. It received new black leather trim throughout and fresh tires, as well as an upgraded cooling system to facilitate a correct, numbers matching drivetrain. It sold at the 2012 Orange County Barrett-Jackson for $107,250.
