The 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX was considered a “poor man’s 442” when it was launched in late 1969. The 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX came with a monster 455 big block motor and some racing equipment. But the SX is not easy to verify, and you have to have the original documents to prove authenticity. The numbers alone will not tell the story on an SX.
A Canadian seller has listed his 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass SX on the Cars On Line site this week. Cars On Line has chosen it to be its DEAL of the DAY on Saturday, September 24, 2016. The asking price is only $22,500.
The Canadian seller says he has the Canadian documentation on this one. GM Canada kept better records than GM did in the U.S. so the Canadian documentation is usually considered bullet proof. He also says the engine is NOM for this car. But he notes that the transmission and rear end are original. Look around. These SX cars are pretty hard to find. And they are fun to drive with the 455 big block power. The seller says this is a Oldsmobile 455 built .30 over.
The seller is the first one to tell you that this SX is not completely original. He says: the “455 .30 over with edelbrock aluminum heads. Big roller cam, torker intake and an 850 holley. 12 Bolt rear end with 4:11 gears. Car also has cage and a ladder bar. Drive it on the street or track! I have GM paper work to prove that’s its a sx car.”
Cars On Line publishes its DEAL of the DAY preview in its weekly newsletter. So you can find out about the best deals on the site before they appear on the front page feature each day. The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You’ll always see them here first though.
