“If they make a retro Yenko Camaro … it better be good!” That’s what was on the minds of Camaro enthusiasts all over the world when it was announced last year that there would be a 2017 Yenko Camaro SC limited edition to honor the legendary Yenko Camaro muscle cars of the past. When Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE) unveiled the supercharged Yenko Camaro SYC it was a raging 800 horsepower phenom worthy of the legendary name.
This week, Fast Lane Classic Cars out of St Charles, Missouri has one of these 2017 Yenko Camaro SC special edition muscle cars for sale. (Follow this link to see dozens of detailed photos and contact information.) It still has only 63 original miles on it. According to the ad descripition this one came with the special leather interior option package (a $2,125 extra charge when new) and was built on a 2SS factory Camaro donor car with all the 2SS options. In all, there were nearly $50,000 in upgrades on this one Yenko Camaro SC.
SVE, a New Jersey retro builder, licensed the Yenko name as a tribute to the historic Yenko Camaro muscle cars of the late 1960’s. This is one retro sports car that deserves to be called a muscle car. SVE built a limited edition of 50 models. All of them were born to be collectible. And, yes, they are fast. They are real fast.
Start with the Camaro SS as a donor car, and SVE added the Yenko package to it. The Yenko package alone was a $40,000 upgrade, after you factor in the cost of the donor car. That package included the Yenko appearance package with the carbon fiber SYC hood. Lift the lid and you see an all new for 2017 Yenko Performance 416 c.i. LT-1 aluminum V8, supercharged, rated at 800 hp, 750 Lb-Ft of torque. The forged 4340 steel crankshaft and H-beam rods lift aluminum pistons in the CNC ported and polished LT-1 cylinder heads. It uses an LT-4 fuel system and injectors and the custom 2.9 liter twin screw Eaton supercharger.
The 2SS Camaro body is unmodified except for paint and accents. Exterior accents include the Yenko/SC side stripe graphics, with Yenko badges and a Yenko Supercharged power badge which verifies the build number. Rear Spoiler, Yenko Floor Mats, Embroidered Headrests complete the look. The pure bread is shod with 5-spoke Gunmetal finished wheels, wrapped in special Good Year Eagle F1 tires with raised white letters.
The transmission is a GM 8L90-E 8-speed automatic. This tranny is purpose built to unlock the power of the LT-1. A numerically high 4.56 first gear ratio offers strong take-off performance while a wide 7.0:1 overall ratio helps optimize cruising efficiency.
Fast Lane Classic Cars tells us that the 2017 Yenko Camaro SC is No. 7 of the 50 special edition cars built by SVE. It comes with a 3-year/ 36,000 mile warranty on the engine and supercharger. It is still on the original MSO and comes with all original paperwork as a new car would. You get the window sticker and Yenko manuals and book along with the sale.
