We have been seeing a lot of first generation Ford Thunderbirds on the Cars-On-Line website this week. Some of the prices are really dropping into the very affordable range. The reason for such proliferation is that so many first generation Ford Thunderbirds have been restored over the years. They just aren’t as rare as people thought they would be. Perception is 90 percent of their value. When people thought they were rare, the prices went up over $100,000 for concours restorations. Today the average value is more in the $30,000 price range.
But first generation Ford Thunderbirds remain very popular. Our newsletter readers know our mantra … “if you find a first generation Ford Thunderbird for under $30,000 … buy it.” Today we have one being offered for way less. This 1957 Ford Thunderbird comes from Playtoys, a classic car dealer in Redlands, California. (Follow this link to read the ad and see photos online.) It is equipped with a 312 ci V8 with a 4-barrel carb, automatic transmission, drum brakes, new starter, original AM radio, bend seat, dual exhaust and stock 14″ wheels. It also comes with the auxiliary hardtop. It will be Cars-On-Line’s Deal of the Day on Sunday because the asking price on this very desirable classic is only $18,995.
The Deal of the Day preview is a feature of the Cars-On-Line.com newsletter, published every Friday. The preview in the newsletter gives you first shot at all the cars which will be highlighted in the Deal of the Day feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You’ll always see them in the newsletter first though. Click here to subscribe to the Cars-On-Line newsletter.
