The Deal of the Day on the internet this Saturday will be a 1970 Chevrolet El Camino, the half-muscle car, half pickup truck that was so much a part of every Baby Boomer’s life. It was announced in the weekly Cars-On-Line newsletter today that this El Camino will be the Deal of the Day based on its discounted price.
El Caminos were a popular utility pickup here in the U.S. for decades. Their popularity soared with the advent of the Chevrolet’s mid-sized muscle car called the Chevelle. El Caminos were built on the Chevelle frame and shared its front valance.
The 1970 Chevrolet El Camino is arguably the best looking of the Chevelle based body styles which the El Camino benefitted from. This one is being offered for sale at Midwest Car Exchange in Alsip, Illinois in the Chicago area. (Follow this link to review dozens of detailed photos and read its history.) Although it is not all original, it has performance updates that make it a great driver quality vehicle. It has a 350 Chevy small block engine with dual feed Holley on an aluminum intake with headers. That distributes out to dual exhaust and Turbo mufflers for a nice rumble. You have a 4-speed transmission and power options including power disc brakes.
So why will it be the Deal of the Day on Saturday? The asking price is $24,900. That is muscle car performance at a discount price.
